Why choose an experiential approach?

You may be looking for training on diversity or dignity at work or performance management.   How do you know that an experiential approach (like ours) would meet your need better than a knowledge based one?  Here are some things to think about…

An experiential approach will be more effective where:

  • Your desired outcome is behaviour change.  You want to focus on developing confidence and practical skills.  Your managers have already been introduced to the theory relating to the theme.  However, they still don’t feel confident to deal with situations in practice.  What they now need is an opportunity to experiment with applying that knowledge and existing experience in a safe environment.
  • Your desired outcome is a training needs analysis.  You want to focus on diagnosing the problem.  Your managers know about your organisation’s employment policies and procedures, but they don’t implement them effectively.  What you need to do is to assess their performance in response to a fictitious situation so that you can discover what is holding them back and how that can be addressed.
  • Your desired outcome is effective joint working practices.  You want to focus on teambuilding and creating a joint approach.  Your managers have mixed levels of experience and knowledge and you want to encourge them to get to know one another and learn from one another’s practice.
  • Your desired outcome is to solve a specific behavioural issue.  You want to focus on behaviours or situations that are specific to your organisation.  Your staff surveys (e.g.) have identified particular behavioural issues.  You want a completely tailored experiential process that will allow these issues to be identified, discussed and addressed.
  • Your desired outcome is new understanding about self and others.  You want to give your people an experience that is engaging, fun and challenging.  You want your managers to move outside their comfort zone and yet to an enjoyable experience.

Our approach is not necessarily the best option for you.  Early discussions with potential clients establish whether or not we are a good fit.  Please contact us to find out more.
